Benefits of exfoliating regularly

Struggling with dry, cracked skin is uncomfortable and can make it hard to maintain a healthy complexion and feel confident. Regularly exfoliating offers amazing benefits for those with acne-prone skin or clogged pores. 

Have you ever noticed that your foundation does not blend as easily or your skin is not absorbing the moisturizer, still leaving you dry? Although our skin naturally exfoliates itself, sometimes dead skin is left behind during normal cell turnover. This can cause the skin to appear older and duller, but you can revive your skin’s texture with the right products and tools. 

When our skin doesn’t properly shed on its own, this can cause the flaking and peeling you notice when you apply makeup or other cosmetic products. Getting rid of that dead skin can better enable your skin’s outermost layer to absorb and lock in moisture. Know your skin type

  • Dry skin should be exfoliated 1-2 times per week 
  • Oily and combination skin should be exfoliated 2-3 times per week

Choosing between chemical and physical exfoliants

There are two main types of exfoliants: chemical and physical. A gentler option suited for sensitive skin types, chemical exfoliants are used to break the bonds between skin cells. After applying the product in a gentle circular motion, the dead skin can be easily rinsed away.
